CFD Research Corporation (CFDRC) designs, analyzes, fabricates, and tests prototype fuel injectors and atomizers for low emissions combustion systems.

Examples of CFDRC fuel injectors being developed include:

• Patented lean direct injection (LDI) fuel injector for aero gas turbines that has demonstrated NOx reductions of 65% compared to 1996 ICAO standards in single-injector testing. Current work with engine manufacturers hopes to implement the concept into a production engine.
• RQL low emissions injector for Joint Strike Fighter (JSF) application.
• JTAGG III rapid-mix fuel atomizer that has demonstrated excellent start-up ignition and high power pattern factor in full annular combustor rig testing.
• Durable, low-cost piloted-airblast fuel injector for UEET and VAATE combustor applications.
• Heavy-oil atomizer for manufacture of carbon black.
• Gaseous fuel injector for microturbine combustor.
