| Aneurysms are often areas of abnormal flow and thus are prone to developing
thrombosis. CFDRC engineers have developed computational simulation software
to model these flows. Researchers at LTNT, ETH Zürich, Switzerland
(Dr. Yiannis Ventikos) have been using the CFDRC technology (incorporated
into the CFD-ACE+ code) extensively to study the effects of arterial flows
on the formation of aneuryms. Shown are streamlines of flow trajectories
in the carotid artery. Our simulations have provided significant insight
to complex realistic hemodynamics that may lead to an aneurysm. |
