In the future, patient specific, anatomy/physiology based whole body models will be used to monitor and plan the health and disease treatment for each human being. The future is now at CFDRC. We are developing comprehensive software framework, Leonardo, to simulate human body physiology, pathophysiology, and treatment with the speed “faster than life”. Imagine, your body being simulated ahead of time for the next week, month, year, decade accounting for day/night activity, nutrition, water and energy balance, and analyzing optimal control of your body weight, fitness, but also optimal pharmacological treatment of chronic diseases such as diabetes, cancer, coronary, or neurodegenerative diseases. We plan to establish a “Leonardo Family”, each representing different, age, sex, genetic variation and with predisposition for various diseases and injuries. Some of current Leonardo bodies include: Diabetic Leonardo, Hemorrhagic Leonardo, and Obese Leonardo.
The Leonardo body model is constructed using CoBI tools and JCoBI human body and life editor.
