Project Engineer - Electrochemistry

Job Description:

CFDRC is currently seeking highly motivated individuals with a strong background in electrochemical power sources, electrochemistry, general surface chemistry and nanotechnology. Specific responsibilities include:

  • Perform hardware assembly, setup, and instrument calibration to test, characterize and evaluate the performance of novel materials and electrodes for batteries, supercapacitors and fuel cells
  • Implement previously developed test methods and processes, investigate improvements and modifications, validate and document new processes
  • Maintain orderly laboratory facilities, identify component vendors, compile and track purchase orders, monitor equipment status and inventory levels for supplies

Position Requirements:

  • A degree in electrical, mechanical, chemical, materials, engineering, or related technical field
  • Prior experience in performing general experimental operations and testing including data acquisition hardware and software
  • Knowledge of electrochemical characterization techniques (e.g. cyclic voltammetry, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy, battery characterization) and working in a glove box are a plus
  • Good communication skills, both oral and written communication, to prepare summaries, graphs, and other material to document results.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a dynamic, fast-paced work environment
  • US citizenship is required. Must meet eligibility requirements for obtaining a Secret clearance
