Supercritical water oxidation (SCWO) technology has emerged as a promising technology for disposal of toxic organic wastes. Significant research work is currently underway to transition SCWO technology from laboratory scale experiments to industrial scale production reactors.

CFDRC has worked with the MIT Energy Laboratory and OLI Systems to develop advanced 3-dimensional simulation tools to study scale-up issues associated with the optimization of industrial reactors. Example results from SCWO simulations are shown on this page.
