"Synthetic Microfluidic Microvasculature" Patent Filed

CFDRC has applied for a U.S. patent entitled "Synthetic Microfluidic Microvasculature" invented by CFDRC engineers/scientists Prabhakar Pandian, Shankar Sundaram, and Kapil Pant. The invention is a synthetic microvasculature network (SMN) that mimics the structure, fluid flow characteristics, and physiological behavior of physiological microvasculature networks and can be used to optimize drug delivery and microvascular treatments and to investigate disease mechanisms like inflammation, diabetes and hypertension that affect the microvasculature. The invention was developed under an SBIR contract awarded by the National Institutes of Health.
