CFD-FASTRAN Fluid-Structure Interaction Module

CFD-FASTRAN provides solutions for many problems involving fluid-structure interaction (FSI), especially for aeroelastic applications. The salient features of the FSI module include the following:
  • Full Navier-Stokes solution for the flow field using CFD-FASTRAN
  • Three-dimensional finite-element analysis of structural dynamics using CFD-FEMSTRESS
  • Finite-element analysis of piezoelectric actuators for active structural control
  • Conservative and consistent interfacing between flow and structural dynamic solutions
  • Transfinite interpolation routine for grid deformation due to structure flexibility
  • Temporal synchronization of data transfer between the analysis modules using MDICE
  • Full user control of the simulation via GUI
