CFD-FASTRAN employs a prescribed motion model capability
for simulating bodies with known or prescribed motion. The model is coupled
with the Navier-Stokes flow solver to provide aerodynamic analysis for bodies
in relative motion. The salient features of this module include:
- Fully integrated into flow solver
- Arbitrary motion for displacement, velocity or acceleration using
5th order polynomials, sine-cosine polynomials or input from a time
profile file
- Motion may be prescribed in inertial or any body-fixed coordinate
system
- Motion models may have dependencies and sequencing
- I/O driven by the GUI
The figure below shows an application using the Prescribed Motion Module.
The motion of the flap was prescribed using a sinusoidal function. The
movement of the wing and the flap system was determined using the 6-DOF
Module.
