March 21, 2019- CFD Research Corporation has promoted Dr. Kapil Pant to Executive Vice President and added Dr. Scott Miller to the executive team as Vice President. These changes support CFD Research’s continued strategy to position the company for further growth and support the company’s mission to deliver breakthrough solutions to its customers.
Dr. Pant is promoted to Executive Vice President of the Biomedical and Life Sciences (BIO) Division. Pant is focused on expanding current efforts at CFD Research to develop technologies for military medicine and biomedical applications. Leveraging complementary capabilities in computational and experimental medicine and biology, the BIO division leads the development of innovative solutions for software and hardware technologies for personalized medicine and physiological monitoring, such as mobile apps, sensors, lab-on-a-chip and biomedical devices. Pant has a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering and an M.S. in Chemical Engineering from Washington State University, and a Bachelor’s degree in Chemical
Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology, with over 24 years of experience in modeling, simulation, testing, and characterization. He joined CFD Research in 2000 as a Project Engineer, became Vice President in 2014, and is an inventor on more than 20 patents. He also leads SynVivo, Inc., the CFD Research spin-out that provides microfluidics-based organ-on-chip technology for commercial research and applications.

Dr. Miller is Vice President of the Energy, Materials, and Propulsion Division at CFD Research. In this role, Miller leads research and development in energy storage, material modeling and performance, hypersonics, and test and evaluation. Miller leads CFD Research’s focus on accelerating discovery, development, and qualification of next-generation energy sources, high performance materials, and novel propulsion systems for defense and commercial applications. Miller has a Ph.D. in Physical Chemistry from Louisiana State University, and a B.A. in Chemistry from Mississippi College. Miller was awarded a National Research Council Postdoctoral Fellowship with the Air Force Research Laboratory Space Vehicles Directorate and served as a Research Chemist at the Naval Surface Warfare Center – Indian Head Division before moving to Huntsville in 2004. Most recently, Miller served as Director for the Universities Space Research Association Science and Technology Institute, as well as the Director of the NASA Postdoctoral Program, an agency-wide program awarded out of NASA headquarters.
