CFDRC among 130 companies and technologies seeking capital, acquisition or licensing partners during WBT 2012
Huntsville, AL – October 22, 2012 – CFD Research Corporation, (CFDRC), announced today it has been selected to present at the tenth annual WBT Innovation Marketplace presented by Northrup Grumman taking place October 24 – 26, 2012 at the San Diego Convention Center. CFDRC is among 130 companies and technology innovators that were chosen by the WBT Selection Committee. CFDRC will speak about its SynVivo and Bio-Battery technology platforms and discuss future plans for its technology to some of the country's leading venture capital firms and Fortune 1000 corporate licensees.
SynVivo is a cell-based microchip platform which provides a physiologically realistic microfluidic environment allowing the real-time study of cellular behavior and drug delivery. SynVivo recreates the complex in vivo vasculature including scale, morphology, fluidics and cellular interactions in an in vitro environment enabling basic and applied life sciences research. "We look forward to showcasing SynVivo and showing WBT attendees how SynVivo accelerates biotech drug development”, said Richard Thoms, Product Manager for SynVivo.
The Bio-Battery is an ultra-high energy density portable fuel cell which uses biological enzymes as catalysts as opposed to toxic and expensive rare-earth metals in traditional batteries. The Bio-Battery harvests energy from readily-available fuels such as sugars, alcohols, or even blood and converts them directly into electrical energy. “We are very excited to demonstrate the Bio-Battery technology, which represents the next revolution in renewable portable power”, says Sameer Singhal, Product Manager for the Bio-Battery technology.
“We are honored to present alongside a wide array of highly regarded technologists from around the world who are producing game changing products,” said Vincent Harrand, Vice President of Technology Commercialization, at CFDRC. “CFDRC's SynVivo and Bio-Battery platforms are in this choice group of emerging companies and technologies to be presented to our exclusive forum of institutional investors, angel investors, and corporate licensees,” said Paul Huleatt, CEO, WBT Innovation Marketplace. “We hope CFDRC will join the WBT alumni that have received over $786 million in early and seed stage funding and licensing. One in three WBT presenters goes on to license, secure venture funding or sell their IP outright.”
CFDRC develops and commercializes innovative technologies for government and commercial customers. The company focuses in three areas; Biomedical & Life Sciences, Energy & Materials, and Aerospace & Defense. The multi-disciplinary approach to problem solving including simulation based design combined with prototype manufacturing and experiment validation allows for improved product development cycles. CFDRC was founded in 1987 and is headquartered in Huntsville, Alabama.
